Itinerary

After arriving to your home for the night of Mestre, you can take a twenty-minute trip to Venice and enjoy the world-famous canal ways on a gondola.

On your first morning of waking up in Italy you will be greeted by a tour briefing and bike fitting, then you’re set to go! Cycle over the impressive liberty bridge to Venice, from here you will take the ferry to Lido and then get back on your bike as you head to Pellestrina. Accompanied by a glorious coastal view you will peddle on to Chioggia. This quaint and colourful town is perfect for an evening stroll or a visit to a local fish restaurant.

On this morning, we recommend soaking up the Venetian lagoon as much as possible before you part ways. Your trail today will be along the river Bacchiglione, once used for cargo ships it is now characterised by its green vegetation and surrounding buildings. Your destination for the night is Abano Terme, here you can enjoy the thermal water pools in your hotel.

On this day you will also follow the Bacchiglione on a shorter route past luscious fields until you get to Vicenza. Vicenza achieved its fame through Palladio’s architecture in the Middle Ages, including mansions and palaces which give the city its amazing character. Don’t miss the Olimpico and the Basilica followed by a cappuccino break in a gorgeous piazza.

As you leave Vicenza behind you will head for Marostica along well-kept roads, this city is characterised by its castle and stone chess board in the main square. From here there isn’t further to go until you get to Bassano del Grappa, here you can see the famous covered wooden bridge and if you’re feeling thirsty, have a trip of the brandy grappa in the Poli Grappa Museum.

Today’s cycling will entail the higher hill of the route, up to Asolo. The morning will also entail some gentle rolling hills. Asolo is a charming Roman village, perfect for a break or picture opportunity. From here it’s downhill as you head into yet another region famous for its drink, the home of Prosecco! Enjoy an evening of wandering round in Treviso, enjoying its sights and attractions.

DAY 7: TREVISO – VENICE-MESTRE APPROX. 45 KM

The first part of today’s route will take you along the River Sile until you get to Casale. From here it’s not far until you have completed the loop of your trip back to your starting point. To round off your tour there is a wine testing session not far from Marcus square. Why not use some of your free time to hop back to Venice on public transport?
