Northern Gotland
Gotland is Sweden’s biggest island and has been branded the “Pearl of the Baltic Sea”, what better way to explore it than by bike? Here there is mild weather which is perfect for the wide beaches and beautiful landscapes. You can find limestone rauks and quaint local cafes, as well as historical sites of interest. Not only are there all the things listed above, but also amazing Nordic cuisine. A true delight awaits you!
Itinerary
After arriving in Visby, explore this city which sits on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Here there are multiple things to visit such as the interesting city walls.
On your first day of cycling, you will head inland to get to know that side of the island!=. Interesting to visit is the 400-million-year-old Lummelund cave, which is accessible in an additional guided tour. Not far from here is the “Jungfrun”, home to a 27m-high rauk, which is the highest in Gotland. After here you will head to the coast of Kappelshamm. Your stop for the night is Fårösund, which you will reach by transfer.
The amazing island of Fårö awaits your visit today, here you can see some fascinating limestone pillars, which truly characterise the landscape with their 10 metres of height. The island was also home to direction Ingmar Bergman, learn more about his successes in the Bergman centre.
Today you will say goodbye to Fårösund and head to Bunge, home to a worth-visiting museum. From here you will travel to your destination of the day of Slite. During the Viking Ages this was a vital port on the East Coast, to commemorate this history you can visit the world’s largest Viking silver treasure.
First thing on the menu for the day is breakfast and then you will travel by bus back to the start / end point of Visby. Enjoy more of this wonderful UNESCO World Heritage City.

This route is predominately flat. Most of it takes place on cycle paths and gravel roads, forest tracks and side roads with low levels of traffic. There will be some roads with more gravel and roads with more traffic.
