Lake Constance to Interlaken
This scenic cycling holiday from Constance to Interlaken combines lakeside riding, historic towns and spectacular Swiss mountain scenery. Begin in Constance on Lake Constance, with time to explore the charming old town and the flower island of Mainau. The route then follows the Untersee through peaceful villages to Stein am Rhein, before continuing via Schaffhausen and the impressive Rhine Falls.
The cycling holiday continues to Zurich, where lakeside paths and the historic centre offer a mix of culture and relaxation. Ride along Lake Zurich to Rapperswil before taking the train to Einsiedeln, home to the famous monastery and Black Madonna. From here, enjoy panoramic cycling through the Aegeri Valley, passing Lakes Zug and Lucerne on the way to Lucerne itself.
The final stages of this Swiss cycling holiday include a journey over the Brünig Pass to Brienz and a scenic ride along Lake Brienz into the Bernese Oberland. The tour ends in Interlaken, surrounded by unforgettable views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains.

Itinerary
Your cycling holiday from Constance to Interlaken begins in the vibrant city of Constance, the largest town on Lake Constance. Spend the day exploring the beautiful flower island of Mainau, famous for its butterfly house, Italian water staircase and attractive lakeside restaurants. Alternatively, enjoy a stroll through Constance’s historic old town, with its picturesque harbour and impressive cathedral. Climb the 193 steps to the cathedral tower for superb panoramic views across the city and Lake Constance.
Leaving Constance, your cycling holiday continues along the shores of the Untersee, passing through charming Swiss fishing villages on the way to Stein am Rhein. Take time to explore the beautifully preserved old town, renowned for its medieval buildings decorated with colourful frescoes. The route then follows the Rhine towards Schaffhausen, crossing between the German and Swiss sides of the river. As you approach the town, the impressive Munot Fortress comes into view, standing proudly above the skyline.
A short ride brings you to another highlight of your cycling holiday from Constance to Interlaken – the spectacular Rhine Falls, one of Europe’s largest waterfalls. Get close to the roaring cascades with an optional boat trip to the famous Rhine Falls rock, where you can truly experience the power of the water. The route then follows the Glatt Valley towards the vibrant city of Zurich. Explore the well-preserved old town before relaxing along the lively promenade beside the River Limmat.
Leaving Zurich, your cycling holiday continues along the Gold Coast, the scenic northern shore of Lake Zurich, towards Rapperswil. From a distance, the town’s impressive castle is clearly visible as you approach along the lakeside route. You then cross the dam and begin a short climb, though this section is comfortably completed by train rather than by bike.
The journey continues to Einsiedeln, the most visited pilgrimage destination in Switzerland. Here, the famous Einsiedeln Abbey and its Black Madonna attract visitors and pilgrims from around the world, offering a peaceful and culturally significant stop on this cycling holiday route.
Today’s stage of your cycling holiday offers a varied and scenic ride through the foothills of the Alps. The route passes Lake Sihl and continues over the Rothenthurm high moor, an expansive and striking upland landscape, before descending into the beautiful Ägerital valley. Rothenthurm Moor

Today’s stage of your cycling holiday from Constance to Interlaken leads you through the scenic heart of Central Switzerland, with gently rolling hills, green meadows and striking Alpine views. The route follows well-maintained cycle paths and rewards you with beautiful panoramas over Lake Zug, before continuing towards Lake Lucerne.
On arrival in Lucerne, you can explore one of Switzerland’s most attractive cities. Highlights include the historic Chapel Bridge, the iconic Water Tower and the lively old town, all set against a stunning lakeside and mountain backdrop.
Leaving Lucerne, your cycling holiday continues past Lake Sarnen towards the village of Giswil. From here, you take the train over the Brünig Pass to Brienz, where the route resumes in the Bernese Oberland.

Route information
On the cycling route from Constance (Konstanz) to Interlaken, most of the stages are pleasantly easy, following mainly flat asphalt cycle paths and well-separated cycle lanes. This makes for comfortable riding through lakeside scenery and gently rolling landscapes for much of the journey.
However, the section between Einsiedeln and Lucerne becomes noticeably more challenging, with some hilly stretches where you may need to push your bike at times. Despite this, the effort is rewarded with varied scenery and a memorable approach towards Central Switzerland.

These hybrid bikes are designed for a sportier sitting position and finely tuned gears offer excellent riding flexibility. The aluminium frame has disc brakes, a suspension seat post and Shimano XT derailleur gears. Every bike has puncture-proof Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres.

Unisex Electric Bike
The electric bikes available on this tour assist up to 25 km/h whilst pedalling. The pedalec motor is in the bottom bracket of the frame and the detachable batteries last for approximately 120 km. Each bike has an illuminated LCD and 8-speed internal hub gears. They weigh approximately 23 kg. Only limited numbers are available and available to riders over 16 years old.
