Itinerary

Feel free to explore the small town of Køge independently. A beautiful, medieval market square and Denmark’s oldest court house await you there. Enjoy the nearby white sand beach and take time for daydreaming or a refreshing swim. All points of interest are easily reached by bike, foot, or bus. Overnight stay in Køge.

Today’s stretch takes you through Zealand’s green South to one of the islands oldest towns on the West coast, Næstved. Take an excursion to the castle of Gavnø. There are over ½ million bulbs, a rose garden, and many rare plants and trees on the castle grounds. You may want to visit the theme park, Bonbon Land or the glass factory nearby. Overnight stay in Næstved.

Your journey continues further northwest through the landscape of the Great Belt where everyone is in a holiday mood. Swimming areas, restaurants, and cafés characterise the surroundings. Art galleries with changing exhibitions can be found in Kaerebaekstorp. Before you cycle on to Korsør, where you’ll find your accommodation, you should taste the freshly smoked fish at one of the smokehouses.

Today you’ll discover one of the most beautiful and best replicas of the Viking Age in Denmark as you travel west of Slagelse to Trelleborg. Visit the mighty, 10th century, ring wall (Ringburg) before continuing past lake Tissø. The lake is well known as a natural refuge for birds. Your destination today is Ringsted where you’ll spend the night.

Today‘s ride will bring you back to the coast where you’ll discover the fjords near Roskilde as you cycle first to the Iselfjord and then on to the Roskildefjord. Visit Roskilde Cathedral, the burial place of many Danish kings and Dynasties then, should you wish to, follow in the footsteps of the Vikings as you row and sail across the fjord from the harbour in replicas of the old Viking ships. You’ll find tonight’s accommodation in Roskilde.

Today’s stretch sees you cycle the short route to the Danish capital. Spend the afternoon exploring Copenhagen with a visit to Tivoli or enjoy a Wienerbröd and a cup of coffee in a cosy café. Overnight stay in Copenhagen.

Cycle south along the beaches of Copenhagen and continue on the Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Route back to Køge where you began. Turn in your rental bike and enjoy your evening. Overnight stay in Køge.

Travellers are responsible for their transportation homeward. Depart after breakfast, unless you have booked an extended stay.
