Itinerary
From Alicante-Elche Airport, take a short transfer to the beautiful historic town of Biar, where you’ll find your first hotel. Relax and cool off by the hotel pool before you begin your tour.
Collect your bike and head off along quiet country roads and the Xixarra bike path. This pleasant cycle takes you amongst vineyards and through the fields of olives, almonds and other fruit trees of the Vinalopó Valley. The undiscovered Arabic town of Bocairent, a historic hill-top village with houses carved from the rock, is today’s destination.
Your journey continues through the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park. After an initial climb, you’ll find yourself enjoying a wonderful cycle through Mediterranean pine woodland rich in aromatic and medicinal plants. Your third night is spent in the typically Spanish town of Alcoy, away from the usual tourist trail.
Today you’ll spend a delightful day cycling along the valley of the Serpis River as it heads downstream towards the coast. This, mostly downhill, cycle will spend some time travelling along the Serpis Limestone Canyon, full of interesting aquatic and birdlife.
Leaving Villalonga, you’ll take an easy ride through the pretty orange groves down to the coast. Spend some time at the beach and enjoy a dip in the sea before exploring the busy town of Denia, where you’ll spend the night at a pretty seafront hotel.
The final stage of your tour takes you from Denia to Javea, another bustling seaside town. On the way, you’ll cycle past the most important landmark between these towns: the Montgó Mountain. On reaching the charming and historic Javea, enjoy a chilled drink by the pool at your fantastic beach-side hotel or spend the afternoon on the beach!
