Itinerary

Individual arrival in Stralsund. Embarkation at 4:00 pm.

Tip: If you arrive early enough, you can take a stroll through Stralsund’s historic centre, which is situated on a small island. As a city with an important past, you will see numerous exceptional sights.

Your bike tour takes you from Stralsund across the Rügendamm bridge to Gustow, ending in Lauterbach in the southeast of Rügen Island. Here, you will rejoin your ship.

Alternatively, you can take the ship to Lauterbach and from there enjoy day trips to the seaside resorts of Sellin, Baabe, or Binz. A ride on the “Rasender Roland” — Rügen’s historic resort railway — is another way to explore the island’s beauty (limited bicycle transport available).

Today, you have plenty of time to explore Usedom Island. You have the choice between 3 cycling tours. Take the opportunity in the morning to visit the Historical-Technical Museum in the former power plant or plan a visit to the Usedom Distillery in Mölchow (highly recommended!).

In good weather, we recommend the bike tour through Trassenheide and Karlshagen combined with a refreshing swim in the Baltic Sea. Afterwards, cycle to Zinnowitz, one of Usedom’s most famous and beautiful seaside resorts. Situated between the Baltic Sea and Achterwasser, the town is surrounded by beech, oak, and pine forests, and the white, gently sloping sandy beach invites you to relax.

Today you will spend all day on board.

You will cross the expansive waters of the Bay of Szczecin (Oder Lagoon) and reach Szczecin, the green city on the mouth of the Oder and one of the largest ports on the Baltic Sea. The reconstructed castle of the Dukes of Pomerania, situated in the city’s historic centre, is worth seeing.

In the morning, you will sail from Szczecin to Mescherin. Today, you pass through a section of the unique cross-border protected area called “Lower Oder Valley International Park” via the Oder-Neisse Cycle Path before reaching Schwedt, your destination for the day. Along the way, you’ll encounter the former estate of Criewen, which offers you the opportunity to visit the National Park Centre of Germany’s only floodplain National Park.

In the morning, you will sail from Schwedt to Hohensaaten. Then a bike ride in the direction of Niederfinow (boat lift – a tour is always an option) through the splendid landscape, passing by small hills, glades and forests – the last section will be on the Treidel bike route along the Finow Canal – to Eberswalde. In the heart of the city, in the Finow Canal, is the oldest working lock in Germany, which has been a technical monument since 1978.

In the morning, sailing to Oranienburg. Sightseeing tip: the Baroque castle with its park, museum and orangery. Then the well-marked bike route will take you southwards through the Ruppiner sea area to Berlin.

After breakfast, disembarkation until 9:00 am and individual trip home.

Route overview

You will mostly be cycling on traffic-free paths, quiet country roads with minimal traffic, and paved cycle lanes, dusty field tracks, unpaved roads, and a few short sections on main roads. This is a “leisure cycling” route – mostly flat with some hilly stretches, though there will be a few steep inclines and descents. The trail is in poor condition in some places due to cobblestones and sandy areas.

Total distance (approx): 150 – 177 km

Starting point: Stralsund

  • Bike hire options

The rental bikes on this cycling holiday use only components from reputable brand manufacturers. Both our regular bicycles and e-bikes (pedelecs) feature saddles from Selle Royal. You can choose between coaster brake and freewheel systems from Shimano. The frames, developed by the leading German manufacturer, Velo de Ville, are also designed for comfort. With low step-throughs, they provide a secure feeling, even for occasional riders. All bikes are additionally equipped with tyre pumps, repair kits with tools, and spare inner tubes. For extra storage room, most bikes are fitted with panniers and/or handlebar bags. To help you find your perfect bike aboard the ships, we offer three frame sizes: 45, 50, and 55.
