This single centre holiday is based in the peaceful, natural surroundings of Veluwe, part of the Gelderland region to the east of Amsterdam near Apeldoorn. Cycle tracks criss cross the heathland and extensive woods and give you easy access to some of the interesting attractions of the area: William III’s grand hunting lodge at Het Loo near Apeldoorn, dubbed the “Versailles of the Netherlands”; the remarkable Kröller-Müller Museum with its extensive collection of works by Vincent Van Gogh, and sculpture garden with works by the world’s most famous sculptors; Harderwijk, an old fishing port, but now more famous for its dolphinarium, Europe’s largest zoo for marine animals. All these attractions are within 10-15 miles of your base.
Your hotel, the Mooi Veluwe Hampshire Inn, lies in the middle of the Speulder Forest and the largest nature reserve in Holland. There are 79 rooms all on ground level, and there is an attractive restaurant, a cosy bar, a large terrace, and a sauna. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and offers genuine hospitality. You have use of a 3-geared bicycle during your stay and will have route maps and advice from the hotel on the best routes for cycling.
This holiday offers genuine value, and the flexibility of a single centre and different lengths of stay. You can do as much or as little cycling as you wish and just enjoy a relaxing break in very pleasant surroundings.
Terrain
The terrain is flat. You will cycle on dedicated cycle tracks and small country roads with little traffic.
Climate
As this tour is in Holland weather patterns are similar to those of the UK.
