A delightful, leisurely route through Austria's famous lake district, the "Salzkammergut", where crystal-clear lakes combine with towering mountains to create unrivalled vistas. This region was a favourite of the Austrian monarchs and you stay in the elegant spa towns of Bad Ischl and Bad Aussee which reflect the opulent past of the Austrian Empire.
Lakeside cycle paths take you along Lake Wolfgang, close to where Julie Andrews performed that opening routine in "The Sound of Music", and then to Lake Hallstatt, arguably the most beautiful of all the Austrian Lakes. Our itinerary allows plenty of time for other activities - mountain walks, outdoor swimming, or excursions by boat, cable car or mountain train.
The longer 9 night itinerary takes you beyond Bad Aussee and down the scenic Enns Valley, with the majestic Dachstein mountain range rising to the north. The charming town of Schladming is your final destination. Take a cable car up into the mountains or enjoy a full range of activities for free with your included Summer Card.

May to September offer ideal cycling conditions. High summer (July and August) can have an almost Mediterranean warmth and dryness, with average daytime temperatures in the range 24-26°C (75-79°F). Rain is always a possibility, but prolonged periods of rain are unlikely.
